About Albion, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in Edwards County, Illinois, Albion is a small city that also serves as the county seat. Named for an old, poetic reference to Great Britain, about 2,000 people currently call this community home. Albion is located 10 miles from Grayville, 15 miles from Mount Carmel, and about 25 miles from Olney. Illinois Routes 130 and 15 can easily connect city residents with other communities in the area.
Despite serving as the county seat, there aren’t any major attractions located in Albion. There are several businesses that meet the needs of visitors and residents, including popular restaurants – Colyer Coffee House, Great Wall, and Los Chicanos Café are three of the most popular. Several specialty shops call Albion home, including Divine Gifts, Harvey’s Flower Shop & Garden Center, Copeland’s Furniture & Carpets, and Gillards True Value Hardware. Antique collectors might also like a trip to Home Front Antique Mall or Burnt Prairie’s Old Timer’s Antique Mall.
Albion is situated in a transitional zone between humid subtropical and humid continental climates. This region of Illinois is known for its hot and muggy summers, with high temperatures reaching the upper-80s and into the 90s. The community is also located in Tornado Alley, so severe storms with tornados and other dangerous conditions are also common during the spring and summer. To stay safe, residents in Albion rely on central air conditioning systems to keep indoor conditions consistent.
Winters in the area are cold, with temperatures falling below zero more than 20 days per season. Each winter usually brings at least one major snowstorm, while other years might see considerable snow accumulation. When these dangerous weather patterns move into the area, it is crucial that residents have a reliable electric or gas furnace at home. Without these systems, interior pipes and plumbing could be at risk of freezing, leading to some expensive repair bills.
